I have had some experience in treating ear trauma and I can say that this is a remarkably bad idea. It almost seems irresponsible to spread the meme on this one as there is bound to be someone out there stupid enough to try it. If they were not injured then it’s only because they were spraying gently or not pointing it directly into the ear. Then again maybe the truly stupid deserve what they get. Here are some photographs of ear trauma that might underscore the fragility of that little membrane for those who can't picture it.

By the way, even if you were stranded on a desert island, there are very few impacted wax problems that hydrogen peroxide won’t fix, and I have even used it (in a dilute solution) to drown and irrigate out a wasp from someone’s ear canal. eeaagh!
